Can travel in any European country on UK 6 month valid visa?

As far as I know UK gives a six month visitor visa. but I want to know if its possible to travel in any of western Europe countries also on UK visa like France, Germany or Netherlands. does anyone have idea about that or had same condition for travel to Europe ? or when you have a valid UK passport, then does it matter what country's passport do you have in case you want to travel to other Europe country other than UK ?
